LIVES

MATTER

A Simple Phrase with Major Responsibility

While it is encouraging that so many businesses have publicly conveyed their support for the BLM movement, we at Food.Partners know that such expressions of solidarity are a starting point and not an end.

We operate in an industry that is amongst the most inequitable.

Exploitive practices ranging from land ownership rights, environmental protection and stewardship, extractive trade policy, access to living wage, benefits and compensation, unfair hiring and career advancement, racist marketing practices and caricature all disproportionately impact communities of color in the United States and around the World.

We make a commitment to not make token gestures of support but to continually review and enact policies and practices of economic, food, and social justice congruent with our values.

We extend this support to our many partners, clients, and projects and refuse to work with any entity that is not continually working to make the Food, Beverage and Hospitality Industries more socially and economically just.

Standing in Solidarity

Friends

Don't make friends who are comfortable to be with. Make friends who will force you to lever yourself up.

Thomas J. Watson

Allies

There is only one thing worse than fighting with allies, and that is fighting without them.

Winston Churchill

.Partners

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Helen Keller

YOU

You have to choose one path or the other. You can live safe and be protected by people just like you, or you can stand up and be a leader for what is right. Always, remember this: People never remember the crowd; they remember the one person that had the courage to say and do what no one would do.

Shannon Alder
